Connect

  1. Open ChatGPT’s Apps settings and enable Developer mode. Read the risk notice. If Developer mode is unavailable, ask your ChatGPT admin to enable it.
  2. Open New plugin.
  3. Enter Openai Developer Compass as the name and paste the MCP server URL above into the URL field.
  4. Review the details, check “I understand and want to continue”, then click Create. ChatGPT shows this warning for every custom MCP server. Complete sign-in and approve the connection when prompted.
  5. Enable the app from the chat composer, then ask ChatGPT to use Openai Developer Compass.

Refresh after the app changes

After app updates are published, refresh your connection so your assistant gets the latest tools.

  1. Open ChatGPT’s Plugins page and select Openai Developer Compass.
  2. Scroll to Information and click Refresh.
  3. If the URL changed, delete the app from Plugins and repeat the connect steps with the latest URL. ChatGPT can’t update an existing app’s URL.
  4. Start a new chat and ask ChatGPT to use the app.
